when most folks are vacationing, beaching, picnicking, biking, or one of the other leisurely "ing's" i was work-ing. well, sort of. phil had a large photo shoot (it was a pretty elaborate operation) and as an added value, i modeled (not an aspiration of mine, but fun to help hubs out and try on fancy jeans for a day). most of the weekend revolved around planning, executing, and re-cooperating.
6/4 6/5:
a feel like this was a blissful "nothing" weekend, but at any rate, i can't remember what we did. if it involved phil, i'm sure it was fun.
6/12 & 6/13:
our dear friend brandon came to visit us on this weekend. he's actually since moved to hot-lanta. this was a fun-packed 48 hours, complete with photos, wardrobe changes, interviews, man makeup and hair quaffing sessions, and banana pancakes.
we made the pilgrimage to jacksonville; i went to college in j-ville, and unlike some students actually lived there all 4 years. it's really cathartic to go back, and it usually makes me wonder why i'm not still there (and at that point i obviously remember just how many incredible things that have happened since, but still). i had the pleasure of meeting ben, phil's cousin, at long last. it's an amazing thing to "discover" family members that you would undoubtedly be friends with, without the whole blood (or marriage) connection. ben, and his mom jean, are such sweet, cool people. we stayed at their home in julington creek. we made it out to ale house to see allison, and her son ryder (he had killer blue eyes, very charming for a baby), and we went to cruisers to see leigh, liz, and liz's boyfriend dasher...and eat their amazing "big salad" (with marinated chicken of course) . we did a little shopping, a little relaxing by the pool, a little movie watching, and had a lot of good conversation. too bad i really only took pictures of the drive:
6/22:
my sweetie pie had his birthday, that ironically is also my boss's birthday. in addition to his lighting setup, i got phil a couple of new bags (one a brief case) from fossil, and surprised him with 3 pizzas and a little office get-together at his new, shiny job at a small yet highly distinguished cpa firm in naples. it was a trek, but well worth the look of surprise when i arrived. (this pick is a throw-back from the beginning of '07).
6/26 & 6/27:
i think this weekend in particular was the most challenging for three reasons: too much to do, it was the end of the first half (so work had been exhausting), and proceeding two other long, jam-packed weekends. it was what i'd like to call the tampa and bad magistrate sandwich; phil had a photoshoot with bad magistrate on the way up to tampa (in sarasota) on friday night, there was a wedding shower for dena at marvel and randy's home (phil's folks) on saturday, and a birthday cook-in (it rained, a shame as i would have liked to play croquet) on sunday, and a shoot of bad magistrate's live performance on sunday night (before the long drive home)...it makes me exhausted just recalling it all. but on the flip side, every event was a thrill!
sarasota shoot:
6/28:
we arrive back in fort myers at 1:30am. approximately 12 hours later, and 500 yards away (yes, i live that close to work), i have a round table meeting (along with 8 of my colleagues) with my company's ceo. holy cannoli!
6/30:
end of the first half, close of the 2nd quarter. i consider my plans for the 4th, and feel sleeping the entire three day weekend to be a completely reasonable activity.
